Akshay Gaur
Cardiology ST5 Registrar, Yorkshire and the Humber
Cardiology has been Dr Akshay Gaur's passion since IMT and teaching it is one of the most rewarding parts of his work. He holds formal appointments as Honorary Clinical Teacher at the University of Sheffield and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Leeds. He teaches across the undergraduate curriculum. He also co-authored Essential ECG book, his first ever textbook.
At postgraduate level Akshay is particularly committed to supporting the next generation of Cardiologists. In his own cardiology HST application he ranked 6th Nationally and achieved full marks at interview, experience he now passes on to others. He runs workshops for IMT trainees across South Yorkshire covering portfolio development, the Oriel process, evidence organisation and interview technique. He coordinates ST4 cardiology interview preparation locally and runs mock interviews for applicants on several different platforms. He is also the BJCA South Yorkshire Representative for his region. Having trained at every stage in South Yorkshire himself, he knows how much good guidance matters and genuinely enjoys helping trainees succeed.
